Feeding a baby is supposed to be natural, but that doesn’t mean it feels easy. If you’re sore, exhausted or unsure whether your baby is getting enough, a visit from a lactation consultant at home can make a real difference.

What is an IBCLC?

An IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, the highest credential in lactation care. I’m Dr. Sophia Sokolowski, a naturopathic doctor and IBCLC serving Barrie, Orillia and Oro-Medonte. Many parents know me as the “Boob Doctor,” and I support breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding and combination feeding.

Why choose an in-home visit?

  • You’re in your own space, with your own chair, pillows and feeding setup.

  • No car seat, no waiting room, no packing the diaper bag.

  • I can see your real routine, including where and how you feed.

  • Partners and family can join in.

What happens during a visit?

  1. We talk first. Your birth, your baby’s history, your goals and your worries.

  2. I watch a feed. I look at latch, positioning and how your baby swallows.

  3. We make a plan. You get clear, practical steps, including any follow-up, plus help with pumping or supplementing if needed.

  4. Follow-up support. Feeding changes quickly in the early weeks, and I’m here as it does.

When should I book?

Reach out if you have nipple pain, worry about milk supply, see slow weight gain, are dealing with clogged ducts, or just want reassurance. You don’t need to wait for a problem.
